Where Have You Been?

This is probably the hardest blog post I’ve ever had to share with you all. Coming into September has truly been trying for me.

As of lately, I haven’t been feeling like myself. I feel as though I’m inadequate. Like I’m not enough. Typically when I feel this way I hide. I disappear well from everything and anyone. I find myself questioning my self-worth and if the things I say or do mean anything.

However, as much as I found myself succumbing to those old habits of mine, I knew deep down that I needed to change that for the better.

I no longer wanted to nor felt the need to hide from the world. I wanted to be able to continue to be in a space where I can still share with you all despite what I’ve been going through.

It’s not easy but I’m glad I’m in a space where I can better communicate my feelings without feeling awkward or defeated.

I decided to share these moments with you all for the simple fact that there might be someone or even a group of people who might be experiencing this firsthand. I just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone and if you can, take the time to either write what’s been going on or even reach out to a loved one.

Even taking the time to share my thoughts has been therapeutic for me. It literally feels as though a weight has been lifted off. Trust me, it hasn’t been easy. Even typing out this blog post took a lot for me. The perfectionist in me constantly kept changing and omitting things in this post. But I needed to bare it all and truly be my most vulnerable self with all of you.

Never feel afraid of stripping your layers or tearing down your walls.

If you ever find yourself questioning your value or what you do…STOP.

It’ll cause you to undermine everything you’ve done and plan to do. You are an invaluable asset to not only yourself but to others around you.

Before I end of this blog post, I just wanted to say don’t allow your setbacks or even negative thoughts deter you from creating something beautiful. You’ll be able to look back and be proud of all that you’ve accomplished. You are more than your pain. You are much more than those negative thoughts. You are truly a masterpiece. Never ever forget that.

If you’re looking to reach out or even share how you’ve been, don’t hesitate in shooting me an email at Takemetotheheights@gmail.com.

As always with peace and so much love,

Magz 💛

Summer Soon Done

Hola and welcome back to Takemtotheheights.com!

Happy August to you all. As with any new month, I welcome it with open arms and an open mind. I am ready for all that the month of August has to offer: new opportunities for meeting as well as collaborating with others, setting new goals and intentions. Each new start serves as a reminder that we have the amazing ability to start over, refresh, regroup and ultimately try again.

I hope that everyone’s manifestations along with dreams become a reality. No matter how challenging it may get or even frustrating, always remember tomorrow’s your opportunity to start anew.

I’ve decided to dedicate this month to second chances. I often (more frequent than others)  am not the type nor do I ever feel ready in giving people, things or even experiences a second chance. A lot of it is due to my upbringing and my families notion in the idea that once you fuck up that’s it.

Yet, the older I get and more invested I become in my own development and betterment in self-care, I realized I needed to be able to revisit people and or things that have caused me grief or even stress.

I no longer wanted to carry the burden of not wanting to deal with people or said things that inflicted pain. Nor did I believe it was healthy for me.

There was absolutely no growth in me doing that nor was I challenging myself in the ways I needed to.

Being able to revisit my grief gave me the strength as well as power in knowing that I am strong enough to face these issues head-on and that it will ultimately be okay.

I’ll be able to develop a much deeper sense of self-awareness as a result of me taking ownership of the things and or people that caused me grief.

For the remainder of this month as well as moving forward into the next, I challenge you all to revisit anyone or anything that has inflicted pain. Be sure to honor your past feelings or even the feelings you may currently have.

Also, set new goals for the month of August.

What are you hoping to learn? What are you manifesting for this month? How are you going to fulfill your goals? Has last month taught you anything? If so, what?

Be sure to let me know down below what your goals entail for the remainder of the month and how you intend to reach them.

Also, let me know what July has taught you and what you plan on doing with your new found lesson or blessing coming into the month of August.

Before I close out tonight’s blog post I just wanted to take this time in thanking those that continuously come to Takemetotheheights.com.

It truly means alot to me and then some. I create my content in the hopes that someone out there can connect as well as share their personal experiences with me.

I love the idea of knowing that I can share my personal thoughts and experiences with you.

Stay tuned for what I have in store for the remainder of the month of August!!!!

Sessions with Sky Britnei

Welcome back to Takemetotheheights.com. Thank you so much for taking the time in checking out today’s blog post!

Before I get started, I just wanted to say how amazing we all are. For those that are taking that leap of faith in starting his or her own business, I commend you. You are truly brave and passionate about your brand and I wish you longevity as well as prosperity.

Moving forward into today’s post, I have something very special to share with you all. In the spirit of entrepreneurship/business, I recently got the opportunity to interview a creative, thoughtful just overall light being.

Sky Britnei is the epitome of what every budding business person should be: She exemplifies optimism for not only herself but to her brand as well, Sky encompasses what passion and hard work look like while building her business and she is consistent and considerate of the needs of her consumers.

Sky’s careful attention to detail is also a quality up and coming entrepreneurs, as well as business owners, should possess.

Without further delay, here is my interview with Sky Britnei:

First, I just want to take this time in thanking you for doing this interview. I think it’s super crucial to educate ourselves as well as others more about small black-owned businesses. Let’s continue to change the narrative by introducing Sky Britnei.

  1. Can you give us, the readers here at Takemetotheheights.com a brief overview of who you are?

In the simplest terms, I am art. A creative. A person of passion. Everything I create is by way of passion and inspired by art.

  1. What caused you to start your all-natural line?

I created my natural body butter line during a pivotal moment in my spiritual journey. At the time, I felt confident in my jewelry line and knew I wanted to expand although I wasn’t sure in what way. I started diving deeper into the world of meditation, yoga, and holistic wellness and really began to fall in love with it. As I researched more, my passion for the wellness world grew and I decided that I would use my new found passion to further expand my business.

  1. What are you hoping consumers gain from your line?

More than anything, I want my customers to know and truly feel the hard work, dedication, energy, and love that I pour into all of my products.

  1. What’s your favorite product(s) or which would you recommend to the readers?

My favorite body butter is Majesty. I use sweet orange and vanilla essential oils to fragrant this butter and it smells sooo good (all of them do, lol). To be honest though, what I would recommend depends on your skin type. This is also why I have the benefits of each butter/oil listed on my website and encourage my customers to do further research on what works for their skin. I have oily/combination skin thus Majesty works wonders.

  1. What are you manifesting for your line in the years to come?

Success, stability, productivity, happiness, growth, and connection with other black-owned businesses!

  1. How can people find you or purchase your products?

(Potential) Customers can visit my website, www.skybritnei.com. They can also follow me on Instagram @DeLaJipi which has direct links to my products. I have also begun doing pop up shops and other events, so that information will also be listed on my Instagram page.

Screen Shot 2018-06-24 at 11.38.37 AM

  1. Any advice for up and coming black-owned business owners? If so, what gems would you drop to them?

Okay, so I have a few that I have learned throughout my journey.

There will be difficult times but, consistency is truly key. No matter how trying times may be, don’t give up on your dreams. Make those dreams into goals and think about how to execute those goals. No matter how many people you see succeeding via shortcuts, never forget that hard work and passion about your craft breeds success. And last but definitely not least, it is okay to take care of and put yourself first. Always.

Once again, thank you for taking time out of your schedule in doing this interview for Takemetotheheights.com. If you haven’t done so already, be sure to purchase Sky Britnei’s products at www.skybritnei.com.

Also, be sure to follow Sky Britnei on Instagram @DeLaJipi.

You’ll find info on pop-ups along with other events and of course a link to her website for her amazing products.

I’ve already purchased my body butters. What are you waiting for?!

June, is that you?

Happy June.

I’m super overdue, but I’ve decided to spend those first weeks of June truly enjoying the weather and being surrounded by my loved ones.

Let’s cut right to the chase. I am feeling overjoyed for two reasons:

  1. The school year is almost done and for those of you who are in the educational field know that feeling all too well: DRAINED and EXCITED for summer to be here!
  2. I am happy to announce my new blogging services and share it with you all.

With that being said, all month long I will be offering my blogging services to those who are looking for a blogger to review/cover their event or product.

Be sure to click the contact tab, send an email and indicate what service(s) you want in the subject of your message.

IMG_3280.JPGAside from that, I have welcomed this month with open arms and an open mind. I am ready for all the amazing opportunities to come for the month of June.

Last month has taught me the significance in me strengthening/redefining my work revolving self-care/healing. With the last week of school tomorrow, I’ve taken a step back from social media for a bit and just allowed myself to recharge coming into a new month. I’ve also devoted time in collaborating more with other people. Doing so has allowed me to harness my ability in remaining approachable.

Moving forward, I’ve decided to dedicate this month in focusing on the power of connecting with others. We often times get so wrapped up in our own ideas or even transfixed on doing things that we see so fit.

Allowing myself opportunities in sharing my light and vibrations with others will in turn cause for greater relationships with peers as well as enable me to honor a space in which I can wholeheartedly speak to others revolving the scope of creativity, business and the like.

So with that being said, if you have a networking opportunity in NYC for bloggers, influencers and/or small business owners, please be sure to share your info and shoot an email by clicking the contact tab.

Before I end of this blog post, please be sure to share your thoughts and comments about this post. Also, be sure to follow Takemetotheheights on all social media platforms (Instagram and Facebook) and as always, stay tuned for my next blog post.

With peace and love,

As much as I wanted to give you all my June blog post earlier in the month, I felt like it was crucial for me to discuss first how I’ve been feeling as of lately.

With me internalizing my feelings it’s caused me to stay a little quieter than what I’m accustomed to being.

I’ve realized I didn’t take time much of last month to practice more self-care during my downtime and as a result, I found myself succumbing to my thoughts and not feeling the urge to talk about how I was feeling.

Thankfully, I’m in a place in my life (spiritually and mentally) where I can better evoke these feelings.

So, I’ve developed a checklist for myself, hopefully, you all can benefit from it, which in turn can help you turn on your self-care and mute the world for a bit.

I started these checklists about a month ago on my personal as well as the Takemetotheheights Instagram page.

These checklists were started in the hopes that others can benefit from it and promote more self-care and for me as a reminder to check in more often.

I’ll insert my 3 steps down below.

Self Care Sunday Checklist

  1. Self-reflect during those moments of alone time. It’ll allow you to honor your feelings at that present time and help to establish a deeper sense of self-awareness within.
  1. Enjoy your leisure time. We’re not warranted these moments often. Whether it be curling up with a good book or catching up with a friend or family member, take full advantage of these opportunities💛💛💛
  1. Lastly, rest up when you can. Allow your mind and body to fully immerse in relaxation mode.

There are countless other ways in which I go about implementing self-care into my everyday routine, but for now, I figured it was best to showcase what I highlight on my Sundays to help prepare me for my upcoming work week.

With the school year almost wrapping up, the level of stress, as well as anxiety for not only myself but for the students I work with, is at an all-time high.

However, I’m fully committed to practicing more self-care whether it be me heading back to the gym more often, making more time in truly enjoying myself or devoting more relaxation time after school.

To make it more paramount, I will bring in things that will help to serve as a reminder for me to check in about my self-care.

I’ve noticed that when I get super wrapped in work mode, everything else comes secondary.

I vow to continuously devote more time to the betterment of me through my self-care.

If you have any tips or wish to share what you do to practice self-care, be sure to click the contact tab on the drop-down menu.

Can’t wait to read your practices💛💛💛

Also, be sure to save the checklist for your personal use and stay tuned for my next blog post.

Spring has FINALLY Sprung

Welcome back to Takemetotheheights.com!

Let’s cut right to the chase. Who here is excited…no thrilled that it’s finally Spring?

I know I most definitely am! After dealing with Winter for the past 30 some odd years now (we’ve had quite the Winter this year lol) we were granted the opportunity to welcome May with warmer temps💃🏾

With that awesome weather we had and us FINALLY welcoming in Spring…

I welcome May with open arms, an open mind and an open heart.

I decided to take this time to reflect on all that I’ve set up in terms of my goals and where my mind state is going forward.

I’ve realized how much more ambitious I’ve become and more inspired to create and tap into my creative juices more often.

I’ve also realized how much time I’ve devoted to learning and understanding myself better. I’m fortunate to be in a place in my life where I don’t need to rely on the happiness of others in order to feel happy myself.

Aside from that, my energy is a true reflection of how much my character has developed and changed over time. I can easily sense when things just don’t seem to be worthwhile, so in turn, I’ll be able to move more swiftly.

As a result, I no longer wanted to be nor felt the need to be in a space where things or the like don’t benefit me.

All in all, my journey has been more at the forefront and I look forward to seeing what else will come my way.

Let me know in your replies down below what you’re looking forward to for the month of May💛

Until next time,

Welcome Back!

Heyyyy and welcome back to Takemetotheheights.com!

It feels so good to say that to you all after all that time has passed. Besides me needing time to recharge myself, I went back and changed up the aesthetics of Takemetotheheights.com!!!!!

I decided to change my website because I felt as if I kept holding myself back. I told myself going forward into 2018, I will try my hardest to continuously give you all not only an aesthetically pleasing website but one that catered to the needs of others. When I started Takemetotheheights.com 2-3 years ago, I went in with the idea of solely basing it for my love towards fashion as well as including a few personal things to me that I felt held so much value.

Granted my older blog posts are my babies and mean the world to me, I knew that I also needed to be able to provide you all with more meaningful content that can be used in our day to day lives.

So without further ado, I present the OFFICIAL RELAUNCH of TAKEMETOTHEHEIGHTS.COM!!!!!

You’ll notice that I’ve included a toolbar(desktop view/drop-down menu in mobile view) with just a few things that I wanted to talk about more often with you all.

Each section in the toolbar includes Mantras, Self-Care, Fashion Files, Hair, Skin and FINALLY, a Contact section where you can reach me if you’re looking to work along with me or want to be featured here on Takemetotheheights.com.

I’ve devoted so much time and more love into this relaunch!

I am beyond thrilled to begin this new chapter with you all.

Before I close off today’s blog post, please be sure to tell me your thoughts on my relaunch of Takemetotheheights.com. Which section of the toolbar are you looking forward to reading posts about?

Thank you for rocking with Takemetotheheights.com! It means so much to me that you all have stayed and continue to show your support. It never goes unnoticed!

Stay tuned for more posts!

With an immense amount of love and as always peace,

First NYFW featuring: Jeanette Limas

¡Hola to all the fashion lovers and enthusiasts out there!

Welcome back to takemetotheheights.com!!!!

Let me just say how thrilled I am to be bringing you all another blog post. Towards the end of January, I was dealing with so much. Straight stress overload😩

I’m just thankful I can keep giving you all blog posts.

Other than that, I must also HUMBLY AND PROUDLY say Happy Black History Month!

With all that’s occurring for Black Excellence in Fashion, I can’t wait to share with you what I have in store!!!

Well, as mentioned in today’s blog post title, First NYFW featuring: Jeanette Limas, I got the opportunity to attend my very FIRST New York Fashion Week show and I’m still on cloud nine.

NYFW has always been on my bucket list since I was a little girl and having the opportunity to attend a show made me feel unstoppable. The world is truly my oyster and I’m up for all the grabbing.

Upon arriving at El Barrio’s Artspace PS 109 in NYC, I was enchanted by the massive walkway that led to the building.

Lights lined the concrete ground as I walked into the crowded space. The entryway of the runway had tall white walls that was placed in front of a massive wall.

In huge black lettering, Jeanette Lima’s name proudly stood. The energy in the room was filled with excitement and pride for Lima’s line.

Having started in 2015, Jeanette Limas is no amateur when it came time to showcase her minimal yet show stopping collection in NYC.

Jeanette Limas is no stranger to New York Fashion Week. Having already presented four collections in New York City, Thursday’s show highlighted Lima’s fifth collection.

Lima’s presentation proved to be a true testament of just how successful she has become in this field of fashion design.

Guests sat in white chairs as we were welcomed by a singer dressed in a signature Jeanette Lima long sleeved red dress. The garment moved beautifully as the singer glided  around the wooden floor. Once the artist took her place, it was showtime.

The singer continued to croon into the microphone as models walked gracefully down the runway.

Below, you’ll find just a few of my favorite pieces from Lima’s collection.

Jeanette Limas and I 🙂

Despite the frigid temps that Thursday night, I was grateful I came out to partake in Lima’s spectacular collection.

Thank you Jeanette Limas for continuously breaking down racial barriers in Fashion by showing others that we are truly magical. Plátano Power wins again.

For those that want to view Lima’s designs, be sure to check out her website here: Jeanette Limas.

You can also check out Jeanette’s Instagram here: @JeanetteLimas.

Let me know in the comments section which of these looks were your favorite.

Lastly, be sure to also let me know which designer(s) are you looking forward to seeing for NYFW 2018.

Before I end today’s blog post, I just wanted to thank those who continue to check out Takemetotheheights.com.

Let me go ahead and send out so much love to not only the U.S viewers but also viewers hailing all the way from Canada, Nigeria and Malaysia🙏🏾💛

Thank you for taking the time in checking out Takemetotheights.com and leaving me your thoughtful comments!!!

As always with peace and lots of love,

Go hard or Go Home.

Hey to all the fashion lovers of the world.

Welcome back to another blog post brought to you by the lovely folks here at takemetotheheights.com.

Here I am during my lunch break 😂 bringing you a blog post unlike any other post I’ve given to guys in the past. It presents a rather crucial theme that I recently found I had difficulty facing as an adult.

It was brought to my attention that we have this tendency of allowing our very own fears and doubts about pursuing our goals to ultimately get the best of us and in turn shies us away from accomplishing well anything.

Why is it that if it is something that we are truly passionate about, we not only deal with nay sayers, individuals who don’t understand our crafts and talents but also our own negative and hurtful thoughts about ourselves?

While having that conversation, I couldn’t help but to think about how often I allowed my excuses and doubts to get the best of me. Now before anyone says or thinks anything, just because I have this space to share my posts with you all, doesn’t necessarily mean I always felt this comfortable in sharing. It took some time for me to get over said doubts and fears.

However, I got stopped in my tracks when I began to plan out for the remainder of the month. I was asked why not do what I have in mind two weeks from now instead of prolonging it all the way into February. All I thought was, this individual just might be on to something.

Here I was making those useless excuses and in turn allowing those thoughts to manifest into presumptions and doubts about not being able to plan out accordingly for reasons unknown.

It was also brought to my attention and was then asked why I chose to make excuses instead of taking that leap of faith and just ultimately “go hard” for myself for a change. Again, I truthfully couldn’t really say anything but agree.

I don’t know if any of you are at the point of just growing frustrated about not fulfilling your goals because of our lame excuses. But let’s all end that now.

It’s 2018 and you still have those opportunities you thought you couldn’t ever fulfill. As long as you start and invest the time, there’s no way nothing or no one can stop you from accomplishing your dreams and tap into your passions.

Always remember to hold your crown 👑 and keep moving forward.

Before I continue further, I just wanted to thank that person for making me realize how toxic our excuses can become and in turn doesn’t allow us to excel and transcend into our highest forms. Thank you 💛💛

Overall, regardless of how cold and or how tired we might get, or what others might say or do or even our own hurtful thoughts and criticisms about ourselves, let’s challenge ourselves.

Let’s walk with the knowledge and power in knowing that we can accomplish just about anything. As long as we invest the time and commitment, we can push forward against all odds and reach for the heights. 🙌🏾🙌🏾

If you’ve reached the end, let me just say thank you for taking the time in reading today’s post. Be sure to leave me comments and stay tuned for what else I’ll have in store. 💃🏾💛💛💛

With peace and so much love,
